Just wondering if the rear bumper bracket rubber moulding for a 39 Merc is the same or similar to a 39 Ford. I need these for my Merc but cant find anything available. Any info most appreciated! Shoebox

The 1948 Mercury Chassis Parts Catalog show that the 39 Mercury rear bumper grommets are the similar to the 1938 - 40 Ford. The early 39 grommet was 6 1/16" long and the later one was 4 9/16" long. The Mercury pan has a more rounded profile than the Ford, so I would add a dab of weather strip adhesive to hold the bottom of the grommet to the body. Tom
