Topic: 91A-15142 S-7 cadium-plated Heater Shut-Off Valv

len47merc    -- 04-20-2014 @ 6:17 AM
Appreciate any advice for source(s) for a technically correct part number 91A-15142 heater shut off valve (see pic of original with S-7 finish on the body & T-handle with a brass stop valve and nut from a '47 Merc). All sources contacted thus far do not offer cad plated nor have the correct style T-handle. Thanks in advance.

(EDIT - apologies for the photo size, forgot to reduce to 800x600. Also - cadMium).

  Steve,

I haven't seen valves with that style handle since the 60's. If you want that style, you will probably have to restore yours using parts from one with the commonly available handle.

Thanks Tom. Was hoping some other solution with cad plating minimum was around but have resigned myself to this end. Greatly appreciate your reply.

The ones with cad plating are available, but they have a different handle. Try Little Dearborn in Minneapolis.

There is an original brass one on E-Bay at this time.

Larry Caplan in CA specializes in heater stuff and he may have one. Look him up in the Roster.

Thanks Tom for the ebay reference, though the stem on this one as well as every one I've found throughout the supplier base is too short for this '47 59 A-B - the stem has to be tall enough to allow the hose to clear the spark plug wire loom as well as the intake.

For anyone who may benefit, I finally bit the bullet and spent some time on the original (see pic in first posting in this thread), completely cleaned the interior with Rust Out/other chems, reworked the seal and 'dusted' the exterior with a brass wheel and every cleaner I could locate in the garage and under the kitchen sink. Attached is a pic of the original after final install. Surface isn't perfect with a few residual scars from time but it is original and works in this application.
