When I look at my color options on the color chart for my 1951, I am a bi confused.

I have been looking at the two tone options. The chart says that the two tone option is "banning blue" with "mission gray".

However Banning blue is only mentioned as an option for the 1951 Lincoln and the 1950 Mercury.

Was the Lincoln color used on Mercury cars that were ordered as two tone?

Any ideas?

The color codes along with the names are listed in the Body Parts Catalog. I do not have one. The Early Ford V-8 Album, lists the same color combination of Banning Blue Metallic with Mission Gray as a 2-tone combination, but it does not appear in the paint codes that they list on the previous page.

Academy Blue and Newport Gray is the Blue Gray combination listed in the V-8 Album color code chart.

I am reluctant to say which is correct, the color charts or the listing in the V-8 Album. If you don't have a 2-tone code on your body data plate on the cowl, your car will not be correct with any 2-tone combination. The 2-tone codes start with 20E and end with 47L according to the V-8 Album.

If you want your car to be correct, you should paint it according to the code on the data plate. If you want to paint the car in colors that you like, pick the combination that you like and go for it.
