  how hard is it to replace the dovetails in the forty body and who sells them??

  Typically one is able to simply replace the two "rubbing blocks" and two springs for each door. These repair kits are sold by all of the "usual" suppliers.
If your car is 'typical" all you need to do is press inward and up on each block with a small flat blade screw driver. The block can then be removed.
Once you have the new ones in hand, you'll readily see how this is accomplished. easy job... takes a minute or two tops.
If for some reason the entire dovetail assembly must be replaced, well, that requires considerably more effort. These were welded to the "B" pillar and as such the upholstery would need to be removed in that area, the old welds removed, the new assembly installed.
