Topic: 40 standard glove box

  Hey Mike,
I got a glove box for a 40. Standard from Carpenter's and it has a hole about 7/16ths . In the bottom about an inch and a half back from the left side mounting hole for the hinge. Is this the location for the clock wire and did a standard box have this hole? what screws do you use to attach box? I talked with Ray Nacewicz and he said that no one makes the original screws.
Thanks very much
Ronnie

by the way,I saw Bob Jones at Carpenters today and he said to tell you Hello. Real nice fellow

  Ronnie,
Finding a correctly reproduced glove box liner for any 1940 Ford, whether a Ford V8 (aka: standard) or a deluxe model is nearly impossible today.
The Ford V8 liner was black cardboard both inside and outside. NO hole in the bottom for a clock wire as Ford NEVER offered a clock in the Ford V8 models. There should be no "folding" witness marks on the outside of the liner.
I did manage to find a perfectly copied liner from a comapny that advertised on eBay. About twice the cost as Carpenter but it was CORRECT.

Bob Jones? Yes, one heck of a good guy!!!! Thanks for passing along his "h*llo".

Kind regards,
Mike

  Rirover,
Is it a standard or a deluxe?
Thanks
Ronnie

ALL deluxe models came equipped with a clock. A clock was not offered in the V8 models (aka: Standard)even as an option.
