when having car judged at a Early Ford show, would there be points deduction if the water pumps do not have the Ford script on them? the club's 40 Ford book states that the bolts for the motor mounts are cad. plated I guess they are talking about clear cad..The only bolts for the motor mounts that I have seen are yellow or black cad. ,Which ones are correct?

thanks very much

Ronnie

Correct '40 Ford water pumps should NOT have the Ford script cast upon them. That was not added to the design until after WWII. In fact there should be NO markings on the front of the pumps whatsoever. On the rear of each pump the part number (78-8501 or 78-8502) should be cast in to the body. The correct pumps have NO 'ribs" on the cast iron pulleys. The pulleys are painted prior to being installed to the pump so the end of the impeller shaft should be plain steel.
Yellow (gold) cadmium plating was not utilized anywhere on a 1940 Ford. Black cad? Never heard of it.

The engine mount bolts were cadmium plated (silver).
