Topic: Two Great Trucks

Who can I contact about information in the 1940/1941 Two Great Trucks publication? I have confirmation that the truck did in fact come with two extra spare wheel carriers. My 1941 project has both side wheel carriers. The Accessories and Options section says they conclude that this option existed only on paper. I would like to confirm that the option positively existed.

You are unlikely to contact anyone that has positive proof two spares were offered or not. Short of visiting the Benson Ford Research Center and doing the necessary research yourself, you will most likely receive only opinions.
The '40 - '41 pickup truck manual quotes from the 1941 Reference Manual "extra spare wheel carrier for left side of..."
Rest assured, that not all Ford publications were accurate. This may have simply been an oversight when the Manual was printed back in 1940 or so. These are precisely the things that drive many of us bonkers when attempting to sort this stuff out.
If you are going for points, I might suggest you don't take a chance on an option that can't be proven. You won't be awarded "extra" points for a proper accessory. However, you will receive a deduction for an improper accessory.
Of course, that was before things like electric fuel pumps were allowed on the concourse. Now? Who knows?

You can buy the "Two Great Trucks" book on the front page of this site. The V-8 Club sells the book and the price is $10 plus postage.
